You want to talk about insane minds? If this turns out to be true, this general should take the award for the insane mind of the year.
In September 2011, The Wall Street Journal reported from Kabul that U.S. officers found that patients at the hospital were routinely dying of simple infections and starving to death, while corrupt doctors and nurses demanded bribes for food and basic care.
Is there any justification at all for leaving US soldiers in an Afghanistan hospital staffed by corrupt Afghan doctors and nurses who are abusing our soldiers who are there risking their lives for these very same people who are allegedly torturing, starving them and even killing them? Can you believe anybody with even half of a conscious would let this happen much less try to justify it? It certainly shouldn’t happen to a dog, much less US soldiers, or anyone for that matter.
US military officers accused one of the highest-ranking US commanders in Afghanistan, Lieutenant General William Caldwell, of trying to cover up a horrifying scandal at a taxpayer-funded hospital in Kabul to limit bad news in an election year, the AFP reports.
Colonel Mark Fassl, who testified Tuesday, said he was shocked when Lt. Gen. William Caldwell cited the then-upcoming 2010 congressional elections as the reason not to investigate the hospital.
The general reportedly said at the time: “How could we … make this request with elections coming? He calls me Bill.”
So, this general is using an election as justification for all this? If so he belongs in Hell with people like Adolph Hitler and Joseph Stalin in our book.
If this is true there’s absolutely no justification for not arresting him immediately and giving him a full court-martial. If Obama or Biden or anyone in the Obama administration or Congress was aware of this travesty then they should be impeached or arrested at once.
Using US soldiers as political tools should not be tolerated by either party. What we read about the VA is bad enough sometimes, this is well beyond that.
We’d even go as far as to say that a firing squad would be too good for this guy.
We’ll have to wait and see what this investigation turns up and if it turns out to be true, if anyone in Congress has the cojones to properly deal with it.
If true, this general should take up the old Roman tradition of falling on his sword.
